About Dormont:

According to the most recent census, the Borough of Dormont has a population of approximately 10,000.  Dormont  is located approximately 4 miles south of the City of Pittsburgh and 18 miles east of Pittsburgh International Airport off the Parkway West (Route 376 West) at exit 6, Banksville Road.  The major access roads through Dormont are West Liberty Avenue (which is a continuation of the roadway through the Liberty Tubes tunnel from the City of Pittsburgh outbound) and Banksville Road which is accessible from the Parkway West at Exit 6 (from the Fort Pitt Tunnel outbound from the City of Pittsburgh).  Laurel Properties maintains six properties in Dormont: 2700/2701/2705 Broadway Avenue (the “Girls”), 1505 Edgehill Avenue, 1300 Wisconsin Avenue and 2976 Voelkel Avenue.

             Dormont features two eclectic shopping areas, one on Potomac Avenue and the other on West Liberty Avenue.  Additional shopping is available approximately 5 miles further south on West Liberty Avenue which becomes Route 19South.  Located there are numerous restaurants, stores, shopping centers, theaters and the noted South Hills Village.

             Dormont maintains a full time paid police force, a combination volunteer/paid fire department and a combination volunteer/paid ambulance service.  The Upper Saint Claire Hospital serves the area.  Dormont also maintains it’s own public library and  a well regarded swimming pool and park.

            Residents of Dormont attend the Keystone Oaks School District.

            The municipal wage tax rate is 1%.
